Public Safety Overview

Gerald Champagne is the duly appointed Director of Public Safety/Fire Chief for the City of Ecorse effective June 2010. Director Champagne is a dedicated and goal oriented professional with over 20 years public safety experience. He has demonstrated success in emergency management, police and fire reorganization, cost savings and improved employee morale. Mr. Champagne served as Deputy Police Chief in Romulus, MI, Director of Public Safety in Van Buren Township, and has several years of experience as an investigator, detective and Military Police Officer. Director Champagne has several degrees, honors and awards. He graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, and earned both his Bachelor and Masters from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI.
